Being aware of how far you're willing to go on camera, or how much exposure you're able to take is key to making you feel comfortable and at ease in this job. Knowing your comfort zone will help you stay out of unnecessary stressful situations and will make you feel more relaxed. You'll enjoy your work much more if you stick to your personal level of comfort, and your viewers will definitely agree.

Remember to define your limits

In the early stages of your career as a cam girl, it's important to identify your limits—what you are or are not willing to do on camera. These “rules” can be listed on your profile for viewers to see or somewhere else that will let your audience know what you can or cannot offer them in a show. Everyone is different with what they're comfortable with and you shouldn't feel pressured to do something that feels way off for you. Just be sure that you clearly state what limits you have so that there won't be any confusion between you and your audience.

Most commonly listed limits

If you're just starting out your camming career, you may not know the specific kinds of limits that you need to take into consideration. Most of the time, you'll find out what you are or aren't comfortable with as you work, with a viewer requesting that you do something. The most common limits that cam girls have are:

  • Revealing a particular body part such as stomach, breast, backside, etc.
  • Anal activity, such as inserting toys or fingers
  • Domination/submission behavior
  • C2C or “cam to cam”, where a viewer also has his webcam turned on
  • Moaning or screaming a viewer's name
  • Revealing your location or other information
  • Talking dirty
  • A number of “controversial” roleplay behaviors, like incest, rape, pedophilia, etc.
  • Giving out custom content
  • Agreeing to Skype sessions

The limits that you start off with may, of course, change over time. You may suddenly decide that you're not okay with doing something that you've done before, or you could become more open to doing something that you thought was off the table until now.

When to say 'NO' and how to kick out or ban viewers

No matter how visible or clear your limits, you are bound to come across someone who will try to convince you to do something you don't want to anyway. There are a number of things you can do in these situations. First off, you can let them know that you are not comfortable with doing what they request, but you are happy doing A, B, or C. If they keep on pushing you, you can let them know that you are disappointed that they can't respect your limits, but that there surely are other models who would be glad to cater to their needs. If they continue to be persist or to be aggressive, you can choose to kick them out at any time during your show. You can start with a warning if you feel that it could help.

If a viewer requests something that is illegal, against the rules of the site, or against the personal limits of the model, many girls will choose to kick them out or ban them immediately and without warning.

Being a non-nude cam girl

Some girls choose to forgo nudity on camera, and that is perfectly fine. You can still offer viewers lots without showing off your body. Some site members are merely looking for someone to talk to, and this is exactly what you can offer them! You can also use your language to tease, flirt, and talk dirty which can be just as much of a turn on as a nude bod! Remember to be upfront and let members know that you're only willing to talk right away to avoid any confusion.

Will I make less if I choose to be a non-nude model?

If you are doing something that goes against your moral code then you probably won't be so successful at it anyway, because you will feel uncomfortable and lack enthusiasm. If you can chat with members and have a genuine pleasure out of doing so, then you have the potential to earn loads!

The key is to remain engaging, stress-free, and respectful to your own personal limits. Members automatically notice when you are enjoying yourself, and you will gain their loyalty as well as a larger fan base if you remain genuine and enthusiastic during your job online.
